[Brooklyn] What are you doing New Year's, New Year's eve?

Her parents had been in full party-prep mode when she and Bucky rolled up to the house, Alpine in his brand-new soft-sided carrier. They'd dodged the caterers and florists and the cater-waiters and found Harrison and Amanda deep in a discussion of which champagne glasses to use. Sharon, recognizing the signs, had given them both a hug and a kiss and promised she and Bucky would be in attendance, then brought Bucky and Alpine up the stairs to her room.

The early sunset had been gorgeous, glowing off the snow-coated woods, but full dark has fallen now. She can hear cars pulling into the drive and the strains of music drifting up from the big room where her parents are greeting their guests. 

She's not quite ready yet, blinking at herself in the bathroom mirror as she applies mascara, her hair in curlers. "How's it going in there, baby?" she calls towards the room. "Does that suit fit okay?"

She leans down to unlatch the door, and are welcomed by Alpine leaping off the bed to wind around Bucky's ankles. "Hey, don't trip him," Sharon says, half-heartedly shooing at the little white cat. "We're coming to you, buddy."

He kicks the door shut behind them to keep the cat in, and steps carefully past Alpine’s enthusiastic greeting to set Sharon gently on the bed. “Whew,” he laughs.

“Right?”

She grins up at him from the bed. “But we can’t relax just yet. Time to get out of the fancy clothes and wash up.”

Alpine leaps onto the bed and on Sharon’s stomach, butting his head against her and purring madly. Bucky laughs aloud and rubs the little cat behind the ears.

“You sure? You still look gorgeous in that dress.”

"It's not for sleeping in," she protests, but it's impossible to get up while Alpine is circling on her stomach, purring like an engine and begging for pets and love. She runs her hands over his head and along his back to his tail over and over as he exuberantly rubs his cheek against her.

"Maybe not, but my point stands," he teases.

"Well, you still look handsome in your tux," she teases back, as Alpine kneads at the gunmetal material of her dress. "You clean up pretty nice, soldier boy."

“Thanks.” Bucky ducks his head a little and smiles. “He’s going to shed all over you, you know.”

"That's okay."

She rubs under Alpine's chin and is rewarded with a renewed burst of purring. "I'd have it dry-cleaned anyway. I won't be needing to wear it for anything for a while."

He sits down on the edge of the bed beside her and strokes a hand down Alpine's back, smiling warmly at them both.

"Here – " She leans over to give him a kiss, then lifts Alpine off herself and sets him on Bucky's lap so she can get up.

Once he's comfortably ensconced, she gets up and heads for the bathroom, undoing the zipper of her dress as she goes.

“Need any help with that?” He rubs Alpine under the chin as the cat kneads his thigh, but his gaze is fixed on Sharon.

"I'm sure I could use an extra hand or two," she calls back, tossing a teasing smile over her shoulder.

"This zipper is hard to reach."

“Sorry, buddy.” He sets Alpine aside on the bed and is up like a shot, following Sharon.

She laughs, low, and lets him catch up with her while Alpine stalks off to his own bed to curl up, affronted.

He slips his arms around her and draws her back against him. “Hi, you.”

"Hi."

She lets him pull her back against his chest and leans her head back to smile at him.

Bucky bends his head to kiss her, slow and thorough.

A small sound tugs out of her as he kisses her, and she lifts one arm up to run her fingers into his hair, messing up the careful part he'd brushed it into.

He makes a low noise deep in his chest and wiggles his right hand behind her to pull the zipper of her dress all the way down before the kiss breaks.

"Baby," she murmurs, her breath catching at the sensation of the zipper lowering, his knuckles brushing against her bare skin.

“My angel,” he murmurs. “Celebrate the new year with me.”

[from_the_outside]

"Yes."

She threads her fingers through his hair and presses herself back against him to kiss him back. "I can't believe I get a new year with you."

[nerves_of_ice]

He kisses her again, then trails more kisses along her jaw to her throat.

“You’re my new year. You’re my new life. You’re everything to me, Sharon.”

"Bucky."

She tips her head, a light flush climbing along her throat as he presses kisses against her skin. "I wouldn't even be here without you. You're everything I could possibly want and more."
