[WWII AU] you and your baby went to town

Waiting for Bucky's day off has been as difficult as waiting for Christmas used to be when she was a kid. And it doesn't help that they just don't seem to be able to manage time alone together after the mission – not enough of it, anyway. A few stolen kisses here and there are all she gets, even as she feels like she's burning up from pure want.

When he finally tells her, grinning, that he's gotten another R&R day, she spends the next few days in a haze of relieved anticipation. Not just at the thought of finally being able to touch him, but just because she loves spending the time with him. She knows it's a bad idea, knows it's only going to hurt so much worse down the line, but she can't stop herself, and she doesn't want to.

She doesn't ride with him into town this time. Instead, he'd told her to meet him at the little chapel he'd shown her earlier. Wilkins is happy to give her a lift, after she spends extra time and care on her hair and makeup and clothes – the civilian outfit he likes so much and which Lorraine had tried to ruin. 

She's right on time as she walks into the little chapel and looks around for him. "Bucky?"

A low groan escapes him as she bites his lip, and he draws her in for another kiss.

"Look who's talking," he manages. "You're gorgeous, angel."

She kisses him again, lips parting, feeling familiar warmth beginning to bloom in her gut as she shifts to lie next to him, stretching herself out along his body.

"You're impossible," she murmurs. "God, Bucky, do you have any idea what you do to me?"

“Well, if it’s anything like what you do to me—-“

He turns toward her, running one hand slowly down from her shoulder along her side to her hip, and kisses her again.

"I hope so."

She makes a small sound against his mouth as his hand strokes over her and slips her own hand behind his shoulder, her arm around his.

“You’re so beautiful,” he murmurs between slow, lazy kisses. Bucky keeps stroking his hand along her body, being scrupulously careful not to venture beyond her side.

“I keep thinking this is a dream, and I’ll wake up.”

"Me, too."

There's no way she can explain how impossible it is to be lying here as Bucky Barnes tells her she's beautiful and wanted, as he holds her and kisses her. "If it is, I don't ever want to wake up."

“Dream with me, then,” he suggests, and kisses her again as he curves his hand over her shoulder and coaxes her closer.

She presses against him willingly and kisses him back, warm and sweet and lazy, soaking in the sun and the warm, dappled air and the feel of him in her arms. Sharon runs her hand down along his back and up again, curling her fingers over his shoulder to hold him close.

Slow kisses, sweet kisses, long and lingering and in no rush to set the embers between them to wildfire. Bucky learns all over again the taste of her mouth, the feel of her under his hand, the silk of her hair against his fingers, and falls even more under her spell.

It feels unbelievably luxurious to kiss him without worrying that anyone's going to walk by and see, and she lets herself sink into it, his taste and his touch and the simmering warmth between them.

"I'm really glad you asked me out again," she murmurs, when the next one breaks, and presses her lips gently to his. "I've been really looking forward to it."

“I’m glad you said yes,” he murmurs back. “I’ve been wanting you in my arms like this for ages now.”

"Oh yeah?"

She nibbles at his lip, teasing. "Just like this?"

“To start,” he agrees, as a shiver runs through him and he kisses her again, more deeply this time.

"Well, you have me."

He shivers and her arms tighten around him, the small sound she makes muffled against his mouth.

The little noise she makes lights a fire in his blood. He rolls over on his back, drawing her with him, and kisses her again.

“Nothing you don’t want,” he promises. “Just kiss me again, darling.”

"As many times as you want," she murmurs. He pulls her over him like a blanket and she presses kiss after sweet, lingering kiss to his mouth, utterly relaxed in his arms. "My sweetheart."

This impossible, incredible man, who she can't get enough of. She's never been the type to lose her head over a guy before, but then, she's never met a guy like him before.

“Beautiful lady,” he murmurs, running one hand gently up and down her back. She’s a dream out of time, impossible yet here, and he doesn’t want to miss a second of what’s between them.

She rests a forearm on his chest and runs her free hand up into his hair, watching his face with a small smile on her lips. "I'm so lucky," she teases, gently. "To have gotten pulled through time and space to almost land on your head."

“I should have caught you,” he tells her, tipping his head into her touch.

“Although I have to admit wasn’t expecting an angel to fall out of the sky.”

"I'm just glad you didn't shoot me. That would have been awkward."

She strokes her fingers through his soft hair and leans down to kiss him, gentle. "Maybe you didn't catch me then, but you still make me feel like I'm flying."

Bucky wraps his arms around her and holds her close to him as he kisses her back.

“You say the sweetest things.”

"Mm." She hums against his lips, content. "You are the only person in the world who'd say that."

She's not sweet. She's never sweet. But he is, and she finds she wants to treat him gently, even as she loves teasing him.

“Well, it’s true.” He slides one hand up into her hair, curving his fingers over the nape of her neck, and kisses her again.

She shifts over him as he kisses her, and when it breaks she tips her head to the side to kiss his jaw, the side of his throat. "Careful," she murmurs, a laugh in her voice. "You're going to make me forget all about the wine."

He laughs openly at that, a little breathless from the touch of her lips.

“Do you want me to remind you?”
