[oom] and it all goes up in smoke
Feb. 23rd, 2021 04:00 pmVienna is chaos.
Smoke is coughing up into the sky and the sirens rip into the air. She tells Sam and Steve to stay put and heads in to take over coordination as a chopper rumbles overhead, pulling her windbreaker on as she goes and issuing crisp orders to the JTTF staff trailing after her.
"Call MI6, see if we can get Micro Forensics to hurry this up. We need the whole team here in two hours or its not worth it."
It's a mess. People are in shock. She sees Prince – King T'Challa on a sidewalk bench, dusty and bloodied and dazed. Uniformed cops are everywhere. And the tips are pouring in.
As soon as she'd seen that freeze-framed photo on the television, she'd known, she'd known. That she's the best chance they have of finding him, detaining him, and bringing him in. She doesn't know where he is now, but she knows where he's planning to be in another week, and that's information no one else has.
(What she does her best not to think about, what the chaotic tragedy of this scene gives her no time to think about, is how this happened in the first place.
Who flipped the switch that sent him back into the dark.
And how they managed to finally, after two long years, find him and drag him back into the shadows.)
