[WWII AU] you and your baby went to town

Waiting for Bucky's day off has been as difficult as waiting for Christmas used to be when she was a kid. And it doesn't help that they just don't seem to be able to manage time alone together after the mission – not enough of it, anyway. A few stolen kisses here and there are all she gets, even as she feels like she's burning up from pure want.

When he finally tells her, grinning, that he's gotten another R&R day, she spends the next few days in a haze of relieved anticipation. Not just at the thought of finally being able to touch him, but just because she loves spending the time with him. She knows it's a bad idea, knows it's only going to hurt so much worse down the line, but she can't stop herself, and she doesn't want to.

She doesn't ride with him into town this time. Instead, he'd told her to meet him at the little chapel he'd shown her earlier. Wilkins is happy to give her a lift, after she spends extra time and care on her hair and makeup and clothes – the civilian outfit he likes so much and which Lorraine had tried to ruin. 

She's right on time as she walks into the little chapel and looks around for him. "Bucky?"

"You know, I'm not sure." He twines a lock of her hair around his index finger, then lets it fall into a curl and reaches for another.

"They seem pretty happy out there. I mean, they'll always have a place if they want it, you know? I guess we'll see how things go."

She makes a soft sound of affirmation, feeling the familiar pang of sorrow at the thought of his family, and how none of them will ever see him again.

Maybe some of his younger sisters are still alive. When she gets back, maybe she could look them up, and... tell them about her time travel?

Impossible. She hides her rueful expression by ducking her head to kiss his chest, and smiles when she looks back up. "Must be a big change from the city."

He grins at that. "Sure sounds like it. Shelbyville, Indiana's a quiet kind of place. A lot of farmland, not so much in the way of cars or noise or city lights."

She smiles back at him. "It sounds nice."

Quiet and open and green. "I grew up in Richmond, but I told you about the mountain house. I always liked being there more."

"I guess so - I've never been," he admits. "Not yet, anyway. But the girls seem to like it, so that's worth a lot."

He tugs gently at a lock of her hair. "So you did. Not much of a city girl, huh?"

She shrugs, a little. "I like cities," she points out. "But there haven't been any I've loved. Not like you and Steve love Brooklyn."

Bucky's grin is immediate and as bright as the sunlight outside. "Then you're gonna have to visit Brooklyn, aren't you?"

It's all she can do to keep her smile from turning sad or shaded. "First thing when I get home," she promises.

Bucky leans down and kisses her, sweetly and lingering. "I hope you don't mind that I'm hoping you can stay around for a little while longer," he murmurs. "Until we have to go back to the SSR's home base, maybe."

"I don't mind at all," she murmurs, and kisses him back, lifting her hand to curve her fingers gently against his cheek. "I want to stay for a while longer, too."

He holds her close against him, then cradles the back of her head in his hand and shifts a little until she's angled into a deeper kiss.

She makes a small sound and pushes herself up and into his kiss, threading her fingers into his hair. "Again," she murmurs, when it breaks. "Kiss me like that again, sweetheart."

"Gladly," he promises, and does so - deeply, completely, exploring the feel of her mouth against his as he pulls her up against him, onto his body.

Her hair slips down over her shoulders and brushes lightly against his cheeks as he pulls her on top of himself like a blanket. The taste of him is as addicting as anything she's ever known before, she can't get enough. Her lips part and she kisses him back, deep and sweet, tracing his bottom lip with the tip of her tongue, exploring the things that make him gasp and shiver.

Her hair shines like a golden curtain around him and he's lost in its beauty and in the wonder of her. He makes a low sound as she traces his mouth with her tongue, and runs his free hand over the curves of her body, slow and deliberate.

"Tell me what you like, darling," he whispers, "and I'll give it to you."

He'd give her anything, he thinks; the world, if he could.

She shivers at his long, lazy touch, as he paints the nerves in her skin into life. "I like this," she murmurs, and kisses him again before she tips her head and kisses the side of his throat, working her way slowly up so she can whisper into the pink shell of his ear. "I like feeling your hands on me. I want to feel you kiss me all over, and I want to do the same to you."

She runs her hand down over his chest to brush her thumb over his flat nipple.

He shudders at the feel of her fingers, of her mouth against his ear, and a low, rough sound escapes him.

"Every bit," he promises, and runs his hand up her back again, then down to her hip as he kisses her - and then wraps his arm around her to support her as he flips them over and kisses her again.

He kisses her back into the hay, and she breathes deep of the sweet scent that surrounds them.

"Tell me what you want," she asks, and kisses him back. "I know you've been thinking about this as much as I have."

"You," he tells her, and kisses her again. "Under me, around me, with me. To hear the sounds you make, to feel your body under my hands, to drown in your scent and your warmth - to take my time with you, and you with me, that's what I want."

He kisses her yet again, then trails kisses over her cheek and jaw and nips at her earlobe as he strokes his hand along her body.

"All of it," she promises, shivering as his teeth scrape her earlobe and his hand caresses her body. She runs her own down his sides to his hips and winds a leg with his, turning her head to give him space to mouth along her throat and jaw and ear. "I want to give you everything you want."

He presses a kiss behind her jaw, then trails long, lazy kisses along the line of her throat to her shoulder. Bucky finds the spot that had caused her to shiver so much before and kisses it, murmuring into her skin, "You like this, I noticed."

She shivers again as he runs his mouth over that sensitive spot, and laughs, breathless. "Mm," she agrees. "When you kiss me there I feel like a string of lights getting plugged in."

She runs one hand up his back and over the nape of his neck to slip her fingers into his hair, gripping gently. "I noticed you like this, too."

He lets out a groan as she pulls his hair and raises his head to kiss her again. "I do. I don't know why, but I really, really do," he confirms, then grins.

"Let's find out what else you like, hm?" Bucky goes back to kissing her shoulder, then works his way out along her collarbone, petting her arm with his hand.

She laughs, breathless, as he kisses her. "I'll remember," she promises, then makes a small sound as he kisses along her skin.

"Somehow I don't think you'll have any trouble finding the things I like."

He smiles against her shoulder and works his way back, then eases down a little and begins to kiss her chest, moving in to drop kisses at the hollow of her throat and to the place above her heart.

"You're so lovely," he murmurs.
